History- Insipid has a lot of history. We have been through a lot of crap and I thought people might be interested, so I decided to write it all down. Here goes. The band started when me any my friend David were in German class, we were like I wish I was in a band. So, since David already knew how to play drums we decided to start one. I decided I wanted to be the guitarist. I had never even touched a guitar before then. About a week later David had bought an electric guitar and an amp for me, and the band was started. The hard part for us was getting other band members since we aren't exactly too popular. So I talked to my friend Allan and asked him if he wanted to be in a band. He was like "hell yeah." And so, we had a bassist. Then, we had planned to only have us three in the band and me as the singer/guitarist. But a week later we were talking to Brian Martin (scruff), and he said he played guitar and we were like dude you should join our band. So he did and that kinda moved me to singer. So with us four as a band we learned Brain stew and warning by green day, Gotta get away by the offspring, and morning star by AFI. As we realized by then, I had a horrible singing voice so I got kicked outta the singing position by my fellow band members. We decided to be a two guitar band and we recruited David Lansford as our singer. He learned all of the covers that we played in a couple of weeks including an original Insipid song "brighten up your may." So, we played our set list at our school during the "last blast." It was a great experience, and soon after that we had created 5 to 6 songs of our own. But, tragedy struck when David L. and scruff decided to leave the band. So now Insipid was left with its original 3 members: Me, Allan, and David Haakenson. Anyways since then we have created more songs and have a total of 10. We are still looking for a good singer and we hope play a lot of gigs and continue playing music for a long time.
Thoughts- Being in a band is a lot harder then it seems. There's so much crap involved, including money factors. I fucking hate money. I love my band though, I never wanna leave it. That's why the idea of college really scares me. What if we cant play anymore cuz everyone's in college? Actually I had thought about leaving the band once or twice for reasons I don't wanna disclose. But everything's cool now.
Sept 29th- I wish Scruff and David hadn't left the band. We'd be doing so well. We posted flyers at various locations for a singer but they haven't turned up anything. We went to guitar center yesterday to check out P.A. system prices and they seem to be pretty affordable. Till we can come up with the money though, Dan from another band said we could borrow his.
Oct. 4th Well we have a gig scheduled on the 16th and the 31st so I guess me and Allan are singing. Oh well. I'm sure everything will be fine. We've practiced already with us singing so we should be good. I still hope we get a singer though. But I kinda like this singing/ playing guitar thing. Its fun.
Oct. 9th We're recording some songs this Friday. We're thinking about making a demo cd. I suppose we'll have to see what happens. I'm excited. Insipid Rules!!!!
